2 killed, 8 injured in Abaji auto crashes
Two persons have died while eight others sustained injuries in two separate auto crashes on the Abuja- Lokoja road.
The first crash which occurred on Sunday morning near NIPCO filling station in Abaji, involved an 18-seater bus with registration number KRV 417 XB.
A witness said the bus was speeding when the driver lost control and crashed into the back of a truck, leaving two passengers dead and four others injured.
He said the bus somersaulted three times before it crashed into a moving truck, saying men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived the scene to evacuate the victims to hospital.
Our reporter learnt that four persons were injured in the other crash which occurred on Saturday night at Yaba junction.
An FRSC official said the crash happened around 8:45pm and involved a Toyota Camry car with registration number AKD 156 EV, when the tyre of the car burst.
When contacted, Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the crashes, which he attributed to loss of control and speed limit violation.
He said the two dead bodies had been deposited at Abaji General Hospital morgue, while the eight injured passengers were receiving treatment at the same hospital.
