COALITION OF YOUNG FEMALE CANDIDATES - 2019

The Coalition of Young Female Candidates, a forum of young female candidates who ran in the 2019 general elections was officially inaugurated on 11th April, 2019 at the Best Western Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The President and initiator, Dr. Doris Amara Opara said the need to harmonise the intentions of women towards development, policy making, implementation and politics is now ever than before. She stated the objectives of the group as follows:

. To open up dialogue between stakeholders, organisations to see more engagement with women candidates across  board.

. To lobby for women candidates who painstakingly went through elections to engage in policy making, empower them with technical support through partnership with agencies.

To also create a platform for data collection for women in issues on women engagement to sensitise more women, engage funders and offer moral support.

. To offer mentoring, training and support to new female politicians leveraging on the experiences and the partnerships.

The role of women enabling others became even more eminent in the just concluded 2019 elections as we saw less women candidates emerge from the primaries to the main elections.

The forum is represented across the 36 States of the federation by young females who ran and made a mark in the 2019 general elections.

From her own view point, the Media, Publicity and Social Innovation National Executive, Adaora Onyechere stated that the major issues for women was not just finance, but also financial literacy; Self Branding and mentorship. She said there was a desperate gap in the field of mentoring for young women by elder women stakeholders who are political veterans and a low degree of candour towards investing in women with capacity by other women who are influenced and bridge builders.

Some of the state coordinators present included Hon. Happiness Stevens Odochi representing Imo  State, Hon. Tari Oba Laha representing Lagos State, Hajia Zainab Sulaiman Umar representing Kano State, Maryam Alexander representing Bauchi State amongst others. Other members present at the meeting were Amb. Ginika Tor, Hon. Blessing Nwagba, Hon. Obiajuru Ugwuogbu and Hon. Fareedah Abiola.

The Legal Adviser National, Barr. Queency Patrick also stated the need for women to stay committed and focused, follow the governing principles of the forum, which is Equity, Transparency, Handwork and Togetherness.

The CYFC 2019 is the first of its kind coming from the 2019 elections, duly registered  and integrated by ECES EUROPEAN CENTRE FOR ELECTORAL SUPPORT.

'There's no plan to remove fuel subsidy' - FG

'There's no plan to remove fuel subsidy' - FG

The federal government has declared it has no plans to remove fuel subsidy.

Finance Minister Mrs. Zainab Ahmed disclosed this on Sunday at a joint press briefing with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele at the end of the 2019 World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in United States.
She said: “We are here to discuss with the global community on various policy issues. One of the issues that always come up, especially in the IMF Article IV is how we handle fuel subsidy.
So in principle, the IMF would say fuel subsidies are better removed so that you can use the resources for other important sectors, which is a good advice. “But in Nigeria, we do not have any plans to remove fuel subsidies at this time because we have not yet designed buffers that will enable us remove the subsidy and provide cushions for our people.”
She added: “So there is no plan to remove fuel subsidy. We will be working with various groups to find out the best approach, if we have to. “We discussed this very frequently at the Economic Management Team but what is the alternative? “We haven’t yet found viable alternatives, so we are not yet at the point of removing fuel subsidies.”

Ahmed also stated there are plans by the Debt Management Office (DMO) to issue N15 billion Green Bond to fund agriculture, power, health and water amenities to make life better for the people, saying the Green Bond will be the second one and would be used to finance agriculture, power sector – mostly solar projects – as well as for some in the water sector.

She pointed out that the projects for which the funds will be applied, “must be green. They must be projects that are not contributing to carbon dioxide emissions to the society. “The first green bond issuance was successful and all the projects that were scheduled to have been financed have been done and the projects are at various levels of completion.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office has secured the interim forfeiture of a property in Port Harcourt, Rivers state linked to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Donald Chidi Amangbo and Sequoyah Properties Limited.

A Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, presided over by Justice Chuka Obiozor, granted the order for interim forfeiture of the property traced to Diezani. The property is located at Plot 9, Azikiwe Road, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The order was pursuant to a motion ex-parte dated March 4, 2019 brought by the EFCC.

A new telecom era started Wednesday, 3 April 2019

A new telecom era started Wednesday, 3 April 2019

                              5G

On Wednesday 3 April 2019, South Korea’s three mobile phone carriers (SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus) began offering 5G mobile services for ordinary smartphone users with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G smartphone model. Korean telecom firms began officially selling Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G, which is the only 5G-enabled smartphone in the world as of today.

There was a battle between the Korean telecom firms and the U.S. carrier Verizon for the title of the world’s first commercial fifth-generation (5G) network. The Korean carriers were originally scheduled to begin their service Friday 5 April 2019, but moved the date up to Wednesday night ― about two hours earlier than Verizon ― following rumors that Verizon would launch its service Thursday. So technically speaking, the Koreans beat the US carrier by two hours to lunch the new network. Whether or not that matters is a different issue.

The Korean telecom industry spokesperson downplayed Verizon’s 5G services pointing out that the network does not comply with the latest third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) 5G New Radio (NR) standard. This is because Verizon uses fixed wireless access technology for its 5G services, which uses a fixed antenna to communicate with nearby cells that provide wireless access to the internet. “While Korean telecom firms came up with their 5G services complying with the 3GPP standards, Verizon uses fixed wireless access technology for what it calls 5G services. Korea’s 5G services are fully optimized for mobility as their services rely on mobile networks to deliver 5G,” the spokesperson said. On coverage, Verizon only covers two cities as of now ― Chicago and Minneapolis. South Korea’s three carriers have a wider coverage, with a plan to expand their combined coverage to 85 cities by the end of the year.

The South Korean government is proud of the current achievement, as is evident in the statement by You Young-min, the South Korean minister for science and information technology: “The government and private companies came together to achieve the world’s first commercialized 5G services and this proves once again our country is undoubtedly the top powerhouse in information and communications.”

According to the Vanguard (UK), “Ordinary consumers in South Korea, which has one of the world’s highest smartphone penetration rates, will be able to connect to 5G services from (last week) Friday – the original launch day – when Samsung begins sales of the Galaxy S10 5G, the world’s first available smartphone with the technology built-in.”

Verizon’s network will work with Lenovo’s Moto Z3 smartphone, provided the phone is fitted with a special accessory. Note that the US carrier AT&T launched a 5G-based system in parts of 12 cities in December 2018. However, this was limited in scope in the sense that the network is only accessible to invited users who had to use a free hotspot device, rather than paying customers with mobile phones.
As for other countries, Chinese firms have invested heavily in the technology – as reported in the 18 February 2019 article in this column, while Japan’s mobile carriers are planning to develop 5G service in time for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
In case you are wondering about the big deal with 5G, here are a few; with the most basic advantage being speed. That is, with 5G, the speed of communication could (theoretically) be up to 1000 times faster than what you see with your current (4G) device. In practical terms, you’ll at least see speedups of up to 100. This means that movies and videos previously taking minutes to download may now take less than a few seconds. You will no longer need to wait for the web to load.
This kind of capability is great for virtual/augmented reality, gaming, or other use cases that require large bandwidth. Also, and as described by Hussain Fakhruddin, “Along with artificial intelligence (AI) and edge computing, 5G wireless technology will be right at the heart of the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) revolution over the next half a decade or so. Apart from expanding the realms of possibilities for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), 5G is also expected to play a major role in the development of Industry 4.0 in general, smart city applications, smart industrial software, powering connected cars, and smart homes & buildings. Seamless mobility, negligible latency, full scalability, and (hopefully) reliability will help 5G in making many high-end, mission-critical IoT projects implementable with ease. The general feeling is that the improved performance levels and network capacities of 5G technology will make it a key driver of ‘massive IoT’.” The 5G network is also is expected to help resolve the “last-mile” issue.
There are a few anticipated challenges with 5G, however; such as the uncertainties over coverage and radio frequencies. The portion of the radio frequency used for 5G is already overcrowded, so that the possibility is significant that there will be some lingering problems with data transmissions (i.e., in sending/receiving signals). It is also expected that significant data and signal losses may occur due to a myriad of factors. Finally, some doubts remain over how 5G will handle critical security and privacy concerns.

Microsoft urges businesses to adopt cloud computing

Microsoft urges businesses to adopt cloud computing

Microsoft Nigeria has urged businesses in the country to adopt cloud computing to enable firms reduce operating costs, run infrastructure more efficiently, and streamline scaling as business needs change.
The Country Manager, Microsoft Nigeria, Akin Banuso, gave the charge while speaking with journalists at the company’s office in Lagos.
He said with digital transformation becoming the driving force behind organisational strategies across the continent, organisations in Nigeria need to consider cloud computing as a way of storing and managing servers, databases, networking analytics and software through the internet (cloud).
This, according to him, will enable firms experience faster innovation, flexible resources, and achieve economies of scale, as they will only pay for cloud services used.
“We created our Azure cloud offering recognising that organisations that migrate to the cloud would require an ever-expanding set of cloud services to help them meet business challenges.

U-17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets Beat Tanzania In 9-Goal Thriller

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets began their quest for a third continental title at the 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations on a blistering note yesterday as they beat host Tanzania 5-4 in a thrilling encounter. The Coach, Manu Garba-tutored side showed great promise as they held their own against the Tanzanians who were playing in front of their vociferous home crowd. It was Olatomi Olaniyan that got the curtain raiser scoring in the 21st minute for the Eaglets. But the hosts responded with a quick equaliser almost immediately through Edmund John. The Golden Eaglets soon pulled away scoring two fantastic goals in the 31st and 37th minute through Wisdom Ubani and then Akinkunmi Amoo as the first half ended 3-1 in favour of the Nigerian lads. It was the Eaglets that had the first real chance in the second half but the opportunity was blown away and that proved costly. After Kelvin John reduced the deficit to 2-3, the Tanzanians were handed two debatable penalties by the referee in charge of Sunday’s opening game and the East Africans made the most of the chance and thus raced to a 4-3 lead.

The Golden Eaglets who were African champions in 2001 & 2007 continued to pile the pressure on the hosts and their efforts paid off as Ubani scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-4 before Ibraheem Jabaar fired in the winning goal in the 79th minute. Nigeria will be up against Angola in their next group game before they face Uganda in their final group game. The Eaglets, semifinalists at the U-17 AFCON, will be representing at the U-17 World Cup later in the year. Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are the most successful team in the U-17 World Cup with five titles to their name.

Salah Scores Stunner As Liverpool Reclaim Lead In EPL Title Race

Salah Scores Stunner As Liverpool Reclaim Lead In EPL Title Race

Mohamed Salah's wonder-strike helped Liverpool beat Chelsea and ensured they remain two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Almost five years since Liverpool's title chances were ruined by a 2-0 defeat in the same fixture, the hosts kept themselves in the hunt for a first league title in 29 years with two goals in the space of two minutes that saw Anfield erupt.

After a nervy first half in which both sides had chances, Liverpool emerged from the break with added purpose and took the lead via Sadio Mane's header.

There was a huge sense of relief inside the ground, but that became a deafening roar when Salah smashed a left-footed angled drive into the top right corner from 25 yards for his 19th Premier League goal of the season.

Chelsea, who had been unbeaten at Anfield since 2012, almost hit back six minutes later when Eden Hazard shot against the post before the Belgian saw another effort saved by goalkeeper Alisson.

But Liverpool could have extended their lead before an exultant Kop greeted the final whistle with roars of delight and Jurgen Klopp punched the air after his 200th game in charge.

And the shot that doubled the hosts' lead will live long in the memory as one of Anfield's great goals. Not only was it sublime in its execution, but it was hugely significant in the title race, showing Liverpool are not the same side as five years ago.

Mikel Unhappy With Middlesbrough Performance Against Hull City

Mikel Unhappy With Middlesbrough Performance Against Hull City

John Obi Mikel is not satisfied with the performance of Middlesbrough despite a 1-0 win over Hull City in Saturday’s Championship game.

A first-half strike from Congo DR international Britt Assombalonga helped Tony Pulis’ men clinch their second win in nine games and first home victory since February.

The win saw the Smoggies climb to the seventh place in the log, one place adrift of promotion play-off spot after gathering 64 points from 42 games.

And the Nigeria international who captained the side in the encounter has praised his colleagues despite admitting their not-too-impressive showing.

“I think the first half was a really good game,” Mikel told club website.

“Maybe we could have killed it with one or two more goals. But we had to dig deep, it was one of those where we didn’t play really well but the guys put in a shift and we got the three points.”

The former Chelsea midfielder who joined the Championship side in January has made 14 league appearances.

He will hope to help Middlesbrough continue on the winning ways when they take on Stoke City on Friday.

Election: INEC’s server shows I defeated Buhari with 1.6 million votes- Atiku

Election: INEC’s server shows I defeated Buhari with 1.6 million votes- Atiku

Election: INEC?s server shows I defeated Buhari with 1.6 million votes- Atiku

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has said that its candidate in the February 23rd presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, beat its main contender and incumbent, President Buhari, by 1.6 million votes. Punch reports that the party stated this in a petition it filed before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja on Monday March 18th.

INEC had on February 27, 2019 declared that Buhari won the election with 15,191,847 votes to defeat Atiku, whom it said polled 11,262,978 votes.

However, the party's petiton stated that “from the data in the 1st respondent’s (INEC’s) server…the true, actual and correct results” from “state to state computation” showed that Atiku polled a total of 18,356,732 votes to defeat Buhari whom they said scored 16,741,430 votes''.
The opposition party said the results were the total votes scored by the candidates in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, as there was “no report on sever” about the results from Rivers State as of February 25, 2019.
By this, Atiku claims to have defeated Buhari with 1,615,302 votes.
The five grounds of the petition reads
“The 2nd respondent (Buhari) was not duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast at the election. The election of the 2nd respondent is invalid by reason of corrupt practices. The election of the 2nd Respondent is invalid by reason of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended). The 2nd respondent was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the said election.
“The 2nd respondent submitted to the 1st Respondent an affidavit containing false information of a fundamental nature in aid of his qualification for the said election.”
On the grounds that President Buhari isn't qualified to run for the seat of president, the party said
“The 2nd respondent (Buhari) does not possess the educational qualification to contest the election to the office of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The petitioners state that by Section 31 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), every political party shall not later than 60 days before the date appointed for a general election submit to the Commission in the prescribed form the list of the candidates the party proposes to sponsor at the elections.
“Further, by Section 31(2) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), the list or information submitted by each candidate shall be accompanied by an affidavit sworn to by the candidate at the Federal High Court, High Court of a State or Federal Capital Territory indicating that he has fulfilled all the constitutional requirements for election into that office.
“The 2nd respondent filled and submitted Form CF001 to the 1st Respondent, which was declared before the Commissioner for Oaths at the Registry of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on the 8th day of October, 2018. The said Form CF001 is accompanied by an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT indicating that the 1st Respondent received same.
“The petitioners aver that the said Form CF001 filled by the 2nd Respondent and submitted to the 1st Respondent for the Office of President was also accompanied by the Curriculum Vitae of the 2nd Respondent as well as GENERAL FORM OF AFFIDAVIT duly sworn to by the 2nd respondent at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, along with copies of his Membership Card of the 3rd Respondent and Voter Card.
“The information submitted to the 1st respondent (INEC) by the 2nd respondent (Buhari) is false and of a fundamental nature in aid of his education qualification, notwithstanding that he had declared in the said sworn affidavit as follows: ‘I hereby declare that all the answers, facts and particulars I have given in this Form, are true and correct and I have to the best of my knowledge, fulfilled all the requirements for qualifications for the office I am seeking to be elected’.”
The party argued that the educational institutions President Buhari claimed to have attended and the certificates presented by him namely, Elementary School Daura and Mai Aduaa between 1948 and 1952, Middle School Katsina between 1953 and 1956 and Katsina Provincial College (now Government College, Katsina) between 1956 to 1961 and mentioned by the 2nd respondent in his curriculum vitae attached to Form CF 001, were not in existence as of  those mentioned dates.”
Names of 21 Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 18 other lawyers appeared on the petition.
The legal team is led by Mr Livy Uzoukwu (SAN).
They sought among their five main prayers, that the tribunal should determine that Buhari “was not duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast in the said election” and therefore his declaration and return by INEC “as the President of Nigeria is unlawful, undue, null, void and of no effect”.
They also prayed that Atiku having been “duly and validly elected” ought to be “returned as President of Nigeria, having polled the highest number of lawful votes cast at the election to the office of the President of Nigeria held on February 23, 2019 and having satisfied the constitutional requirements for the said election.
They sought “an order directing the 1st respondent (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to the 1st petitioner (Atiku) as the duly elected President of Nigeria”.
They also asked the tribunal to rule that Buhari “was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the said election”, and that he “submitted to the Commission affidavit containing false information of a fundamental nature in aid of his qualification for the said election”.
However, they sought as their alternative prayer, “that the election to the office of the President of Nigeria held on February 23, 2019 be nullified and a fresh election ordered.”
The petitioners are relying on 50 sets of documents which they, in the petition, gave INEC the notice to produce the original copies of those in its custody.
Some of the documents are, “INEC Nomination Form CF001 of the 2nd respondent (Buhari); all INEC result sheets;(Form EC8 Series), EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D and EC8E – Certificate of Return; PDP Party Membership Cards; INEC Voter Cards; all witnesses’ party membership cards; and all Witnesses’ Voter Cards.”
The petitioners also sought to rely on, “the circulars/corrigenda/manuals issued by INEC for the conduct of the Presidential Election held on 23/2/2019; Polling Unit materials checklist; summary of total registered voters on units’ basis; summary of PVCs collected on units’ basis; Voter Registers and letters of complaints over irregularities and malpractices during the election addressed to the INEC/Police/other relevant agencies/institutions.”
They also sought to rely on “security reports relating to the election video/audio recordings/DVD/CD relating to the Election; Election Observers’ or Observers’ Reports; Newspaper/Television/ Radio reports and news; appointment letters and tags of PDP agents; expert reports and analysis; and photographs and GSM and other phone outputs”.

Witness testifies against Buhari’s ex-aide candidature

Witness testifies against Buhari’s ex-aide candidature

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has fixed February 12 for the testimony of Prosecution Witness One (PW1) in the trial involving former Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on House of Representatives, Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila.
Sumaila was sued by Alhaji Muhammed Shamsuddeen Bello, a House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) challenging the eligibility of his contest.
Also parties in the case were the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and All Progressive Congress (APC) as 1st and 2nd respondents respectively.
Both Sumaila and Bello were members of the ruling APC in Kano but were at loggerhead over the contest of Takai/Sumaila federal constituency in the forthcoming general elections.
Bello is in court challenging INEC, APC and Sumaila for substituting his name with Sumaila as APC’s candidate for Takai/Sumaila federal constituency.
Bello argued that Kawu had never contested for the position in the last APC’s primary election conducted in Kano.
He told the court that Sumaila rather contested for the position of Kano South senatorial district in the last primary election and lost to Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya.
He told the court that Kawu’s name was strangely published as candidate for Takai/Sumaila federal constituency on the last day for publication of particulars of candidates.
When the case came up on Thursday, counsel to APC and Sumaila, 2nd and 3rd respondents in the case, Mr Okechukwu Edeze objected a move by the plaintiff’s counsel, Mr Nuraini Jimoh to present the prosecution witness, Alhaji Muhammed Shamsuddeen Bello for his testimony.
Mr Edeze appealed to the court to give him sometimes to study a reply on the point of law by counsel to the plaintiff which he was served with on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa adjourned the case to February 12, 2019 for continuation.

The Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Team have reacted to the allegations that the young men who drugged, raped, and filmed a 23-year-old woman have been freed by the Lagos state police (read here).
Twitter users alleged that suspected rapists, Razaq Oluwaseun Oke, 28, and Don-Chima George, 25 (left), have been freed by the Lagos State Police after Don-Chima's dad, who owns Dallankester Hotels in Lekki Phase, where the rape took place, intervened.
Twitter users also alleged that Don-Chima’s father got the police to arrest the victim's brother, sister and friend.
But the DSVRT has said that the allegations are false. They say the suspects are still in custody and will be prosecuted.
In a statement released via Twitter, DSVRT wrote:
Our attention has been drawn to the rumour that the perpetrators of rape of a 23 yr old lady have been released. This is to inform the general public that the suspects are still in custody. The DPP will ensure diligent prosecution of the case. @kingNelo2 @grooveeshakes @TheNamii

Kannywood star Zango formally defects to PDP, endorses Atiku

Kannywood actor and musician Adam Zango has officially defected from All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The actor also said that he has endorsed Atiku Abubakar of the PDP as his presidential candidate.
The actor made the announcement on his Instagram page today, Thursday.
The media confirmed that the actor had a crucial meeting with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and some officials of the party yesterday (Wednesday) in Abuja before making his announcement today.
He posted: “I was appointed with the title of PDP Brand Ambassador. I endorsed Atiku Abubakar as my presidential candidate. Let’s get Nigeria working again.”
Zango also added that the decision was his choice and that of his partners including actors like Fati Washa, Zainab Abdullahi Indomie, Maryam Gidado and Isah Ferozkhan among others.
Zango who was a die-hard supporter and campaigner of President Muhammadu Buhari has been in recent days complaining about how the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) was treating Kannywood filmmakers.
Yesterday, the actor also known as ‘Prince Zango’ reposted a post promoting PDP and Atiku on Instagram posted by Kannywood actor and Atiku’s campaigner, Zaharaddeen Sani.
A source also close to the actor told the media that between today and tomorrow, Zango would hold a press conference to explain the reasons behind his defection from APC to PDP and why he endorsed Atiku as presidential candidate, among others.

CUPP alleges plan to frame up Atiku, Saraki, Melaye

The Coalition of United Political Parties has alleged that there is a grand plot by the Federal Government to implicate the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki; Senator Dino Melaye and other opposition leaders as the 2019 election approaches.

The coalition’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, in a statement released to newsmen, said the opposition politicians will be accused of gunrunning. The statement in part reads
“Elements of the ruling party have commenced the branding of some vehicles with the colours of the opposition bearing the photos of these opposition leaders and have acquired arms which will be hidden in the vehicles and the vehicles will be driven to join the campaign convoy of the opposition consensus candidate in Kwara, Kogi and Adamawa and other parts of the country where they have also selected.
“The vehicles will eventually be searched by the police and the arms recovered. Their plot will include mobilising thugs and causing violence on the day of such recovery so as to tag the opposition as violent. The APC leaders are aware Nigerians now know them for their violence which has trailed their campaigns nationwide.
“Their internal crisis and ‘grab-power-by-all-means’ attitude have catalysed their rejection by Nigerians and they desire to break all the laws to cast the opposition in bad light.
“On poll day, part of their plot include also to use more of these branded vehicles loaded with thugs to disrupt voting and collation in
some centres and blame the opposition for violence and disruption of the process which will lead to mass arrest of opposition leaders to give the ruling party advantage to rig and deny the people the opportunity to give their preferred candidates their mandate.
The security agencies are hereby put on notice that Nigerians will not accept any breach of security being orchestrated by elements of the ruling party disguised in whichever form they choose.
Nigerians are put on notice to be watchful and vigilant to see through the evil plans of the ravenous group of rulers we have in our country today. They should not be deterred. Their songs of war and plot to rig the elections will be resisted. APC is already in morbid fear of losing elections and all their shenanigans are like the last futile kicks of a dying horse.”

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Magdalene Ohenhen has revealed that it is becoming a normal thing in the state for fathers to impregnate their daughters.

She described the situation as very sad, saying the earlier the state stopped it, the better. She made the disclosure, yesterday, during a protest by the Brave Heart Initiative for Youth and Women (BHI) led by Lady Grace Osakue.

The group was seeking  justice for 17-year-old Gift Alonge who was said to have been impregnated by her father. The victim was alleged to have been first impregnated in 2017 by her biological father, Jacob Alonge, and later in 2018.
“It’s a very sad situation. Edo State is becoming something else, and the earlier we stop it, the better for us. It is becoming a normal thing in Edo State for men to impregnate their own daughters,” the commissioner said.
Ohenhen cited another case of a man who slept with her daughter for over 10 years before the case was reported to the police. She said: “It is time we stopped all these. Edo State forbids it, it is a taboo. We are begging Edo men to stop sleeping with their daughters, it is an abomination.”

Lalong is very shameless – Ortom

Lalong is very shameless – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has taken a swipe on his counterpart in Plateau state, saying, “Governor Simon Lalong is very shameless not to stand with his people.”
Ortom made the remark in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi while reacting to comments by Lalong that he (Ortom) was hiding under farmers-herders crisis following his inability to promptly pay the state workers’ salaries.
Lalong had on Wednesday at the APC presidential rally in Makurdi accused his Benue colleague of under performance in his almost four years in office as well as implying that he (Ortom) was using herders-farmers crisis as a smokescreen to cover up his administration’s inefficiency.
But, Ortom in his swift reply, said, “it is unfortunate that Lalong has sold himself out. For me, I’m not prepared to talk about him. All I know is that I’m doing what my people want.
“The primary responsibility of the government is to protect lives and property. It is the Federal Government responsibility to protect the people. And there is no way that I would leave my people behind.”
The governor further denied the allegation that he was using the farmers-herders crises to project himself as he wondered how a government would allow herders to continue open grazing after the law was enacted.
“I will continue to defend my people. I’m not Lalong to abandon my people to be killed and won’t say anything. Even now, are killings not going on? Lalong is very shameless by not standing with his people who elected him. I prefer to stand with my people even if I’m not governor,” Ortom emphasised.
