Nigerian couple, Anita and Asuquo are getting maried this week, starting with a traditional wedding in Akwa Ibom today.

Taking to Facebook , Anita narrated how she used to make fun of Asuquo over his political views, aspiration  and disposition. In fact, she never liked him and one time went into his inbox to tell him that he is a complete joke  after she spotted his campaign posters. Read below:
 

He was my friend on Facebook but we never chatted, even though I saw some of his posts, I took no notice.
All these political people, nki dogho do interested.
I never liked him (nki bata bad anye)
I remember making fun of him with a friend once...
One day I saw a poster of him, he was contesting for a position; I felt it was a complete joke because I knew he wouldn't win at that time. So I Went to his inbox to tell him bluntly what I felt about him and his poster.
That was the first time we chatted. He asked for my number, I RELUCTANTLY gave him my "business number." I prayed he wouldn't call.
That night, oga sent a love text, I rolled my eyes in contempt (mme ani do ayem). In my mind he wasn't up to the standard I dated or had in mind to date, I mean, I was even quiting a relationship I called 'standard'.
I didnt know God was in a corner laughing.
God's ways clearly differs from man's ways!
Thereafter the baba called and I just knew I had entered one chance!
I finally met him on my sister's wedding day and he WILLINGLY paid for all my pictures, he stayed with me till the very end. I was amazed at his kindness... I had found a diamond in the rough.
Overtime, I have learnt not to judge a book by its cover.
I have learnt what it means to love and be loved unconditionally.
I have learnt about sacrifice, forgiveness and hope.
I have learnt what it means to be courageous and determined against all odds.
We've been termed an unlikely pair with little connecting interests but we've been through the hurdles of a relationship even though we were a thousand miles apart.
We have trusted and believed in God and each other.
God has blessed me and I am thankful.
One year and 3 months later we will be saying 'I do' and spending a lifetime together.
I'm saying "I do" to my friend, cheer Master and partner in everi everi!!!!
Dear friends share in our joy, be happy for us, pray for us.

A father who snatched his 9-month-old daughter from her mother and took her into the bush where he slaughtered her as a "sacrifice to God" was pictured arriving at the police station after the barbaric act.

The father murdered his infant daughter on Tuesday, in Mbangur, Benue State. His family say he is mentally unstable but he disagreed with them and claimed he was directed by God to carry out the act.

Ex-Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner will now spend 50 days in jail after dropping his appeal for assault against taxi driver

Former Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner, will have to spend 50 days in jail after dropping his appeal against an assault conviction.

Recall that earlier this month, the Danish footballer, 30,  was found guilty of beating and kicking a cab driver in the Danish capital on September 9. He admitted to hitting the man but said he had acted in self-defense after a quarrel over the fare.

The incident took place in September. At trial, the City Court of Copenhagen was shown CCTV footage in which it appeared Bendtner struck the driver in the face.

Bendtner, who currently plays for Norwegian side Rosenborg, was sentenced to 50 days in prison and fined 1,500 kroner (£179).

His lawyer Anders Nemeth confirmed that Bendtner agreed with the attorney general in Copenhagen to drop his appeal, but will serve the sentence at his home in Denmark, under "intensive surveillance" with an electronic tag.

"Even though he disagrees with the verdict, he would rather focus on his club and family," Nemeth told the BBC.

But it's yet unknown when he will serve the sentence.

Five longtime female friends who were bridesmaids in each other’s weddings have each won their state Senate races in this year's midterm elections in the United States.

The women who are all Democratic candidates — Tammy Story, Faith Winter, Jessie Danielson, Brittany Pettersen and Kerry Donovan — all swept their state Senate in Colorado, People reported Wednesday.

The women, who call themselves "The Fab Five," helped flip the state Senate to a Democratic majority for the first time in five years, the publication noted.

Danielson, who currently serves as member of the Colorado House of Representatives, told the magazine:

We were all in it together.

Each of the women said they helped the others face negative criticism and slander during their campaigns.

Winter said:

Through the campaign, the five of us were very supportive of each other. We had several text chains where we would check in with one another and see how we were doing.

If a particularly bad ad or piece of mail came out, we would reassure each other on the text chain, ‘Have you seen the mail? It’s so awful, how are you doing?’

The friends are among the more than 2,000 women who are gearing up to take office in state legislatures nationwide next year.

Why we shut down some telecom facilities - Kogi State government explains

The Kogi State government said the shutting down of some Telecom facilities operating across the state was based on adherence to court orders. The Director of Legal and Enforcement, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Barrister Jamil Isah Abdullah disclosed this in Lokoja on Wednesday night while speaking with newsmen over the shutting down of MTN and Airtel facilities in the state.  

He noted that KGIRS has since inception of the present administration, invited the telecom service providers for dialogue on the modality for the payment of the levy, but they refused to honour the invitations. He pointed out that based on the refusal, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) proceeded to Court in accordance with provisions of the law and obtained an order to shut the business premises of Airtel and MTN to recover the sum owed.  

“The major telecoms affected for now are MTN and Airtel. The sites that have been shut for Airtel are just 5 while MTN is 4. So the 150 mentioned on the online news is incorrect.

The demanded levies, rents and fees are also not illegal. In the case of Airtel, they have not paid their Right of Way permit fees which allows them to lay fibre optic cables in Kogi State. This payment has been due and owed since 2016. There are outstanding yearly rents payable on the Right of Way Permits for the year 2016 to 2018.  

There is also the Annual Social Service Development Levy and the Annual Employee Economic Development Levy. Penalty for failure to pay all these are included”, he noted.  

He added that all the payments were by virtue of a law in Kogi State which was duly passed by the Kogi state House of Assembly. He, however, revealed that one of the telecom service providers had come to the negotiating table to pay what was due, stressing that the other still remained recalcitrant and engaged hoodlums to refuel their facilities in the night, an action which he described to be against the law.

In less than 48 hours after launch, former President Goodluck's book, Mr Transition Hours, has been hijacked by pirates who are currently circulating its Portable Document Format (PDF) copies on social media.

The 254 pages book which was written by Jonathan and forwarded by Ghana’s former President John Mahama, was launched on Tuesday November 20th in Abuja, in a ceremony well attended by former and current African presidents, among other dignitaries from a walks of life.

The soft copies of the book personally advertised by Jonathan on his Twitter handle with two different cover prices, N10, 500 (hardback) and N5, 000 (paperback), is currently being circulated for free, most especially via WhatsApp.

Saraki demands investigation into death of Offa bank robbery principal suspect, Micahel Adikwu

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called for an investigation into the mysterious death of Michael Adikwu, the principal suspect in the deadly bank robbery attacks  that took place in Offa, Kwara State, on April 5th.

Recall that the Kwara state Attorney General on Wednesday told an Ilorin High Court that the police informed his office that the principal suspect died in their custody. Read here.

Also recall that the suspects had implicated Saraki and the state governor Ahmed Abdulfatai. The suspects had in June alleged that they were political thugs of the senate president and had converted the weapons he gave to them for robbery operations.

Saraki in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, urged the Presidency to institute a judicial inquiry into how and when the principal suspect died in police custody.

He stated that the inquiry would help to thoroughly examine and interrogate how the investigation into the robbery incident was conducted by the Police and whether the investigation followed the normal process and comply with global best practices.

Saraki added that the Police needed to confirm why it took them so long to make the disclosure about the death of the principal suspect after they categorically denied it at the time he (Saraki) disclosed the information and it was reported in the media.

“Following eventual disclosure by the Police that Michael Adikwu, the principal suspect in the deadly bank robbery attacks in Offa, Kwara State, on April 5, 2018, is dead, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on the Presidency to institute a judicial inquiry into the ‘how and when’ the suspect died.”Saraki said

“It should be recalled that when we mentioned it that the principal suspect had been murdered and that investigation into the Offa robbery attack was politically motivated and targeted at implicating me and other individuals, the Police Public Relations Officer, Moshood Jimoh said: ‘Michael Adikwu is in Police custody.

“You know that he is the one that led the killing of 22 people. The firearms that were carted away, he is helping the police in the investigation to recover them. There is a state in the South-west where they kept him. I can’t mention the state. It is in one of the South-west states’.

“The fresh facts have now thrown more light into why there had been inconsistencies in the various statements by the police. The Police initially told the Attorney-General of Kwara State that the principal suspect was alive and they only later reluctantly disclosed that he died in the course of the arrest.

“How can a suspect confirmed to be in custody now be said to have died in the course of arrest? This contradiction shows a deliberate attempt to cover up something,” he said.

The child's parents had just disembarked from the train when she slipped off her mum's hand and landed on the track. Her parents couldn't get her out because a train passed almost immediately.

Miraculously, the train didn't hurt the child as she landed in the gap between the floor and the track. She was picked up immediately after the pain passed, tearful but unhurt.

The incident happened at a station in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

A woman bravely fought off a man who tried to rape her and forced her at knifepoint to perform oral sex on him.

Nickoloas Samaroo, 21, broke into the woman's Queen's apartment in New York. Police said he knocked the 39-year-old woman out by punching and kicking her at about 3 a.m. on Nov. 9. 

The woman woke up and found Samaroo undressing her, cops said. She tried to run away from him, but he grabbed her and dragged her into the bedroom of the apartment. In the bedroom, Samaroo beat the woman until she was unconscious again.

When she woke up again, it was to him holding a knife in her face, and he forced her to give him oral sex, cops said. She pretended to oblige then bit Samaroo’s genitals as he attempted to overpower her, and she was able to run away.

Cops said Samaroo stands at about 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. He was last seen running away from the apartment.

''You can’t deceive South East with false promises''- PDP tells President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told President Buhari that Nigerians are no longer interested in 'fake promises and false performance claims' now that elections are around the corner.

The PDP says the attempt by the Buhari-led government to lure the South-East geo-political zones into supporting his second term fell like a pack of cards as the people have resolved not to follow any leader who can not deliver on his promises.

Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, yesterday told the South East region that the only way to acqualize their dream of occupying the presidency in 2023, is to vote enmass for President Buhari in 2019. Read here.

PDP in its statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, said APC has become jittery since the South East have expressed their support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Read part of the statement below

The party said President Buhari and the APC have been jittery since the Southeast and other geo-political zones across board expressed an overwhelming acceptance of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, due to his proven competence, respect for equity and all-inclusiveness in governance.

Instead of accepting his failure, which is manifest to all, President Buhari, who is reputed for not fulfilling campaign promises, is busy making a fresh list of fake promises to Nigerians.

In this desperation, Mr. President fails to understand that the people of the South East, just like other Nigerians, are too sophisticated to fall for gimmicks, false promises and ethnic politics, and as such cannot be swayed from their resolve to rally with Atiku Abubakar to rescue our nation from the shackles of misrule.

Nigerians have since seen through President Buhari’s bouquet of failures and fake promises, which in any case, cannot heal the wounds of marginalization, nepotism, inequity, disregard for federal character principle and harsh economic policies, including obnoxious foreign exchange regulations and heavy taxations of his administration, which are killing businesses and plunging families into extreme poverty.

Nigerians, including those in the South East, know that President Buhari does not keep promises. They know that he has not fulfilled any of the promises he made during the 2015 campaign. As such, they cannot fall to the same old trick ahead of the 2019 general election.

Moreover, President Buhari is yet to apologize to the Southeast and other geo-political zones over his administration’s indictment for human rights violations, extra-judicial killings, illegal arrests, arbitrary detention, torture and reported disappearances, as detailed in the reports by the United States Department of State, Amnesty International (AI) and Transparency International (TI).

Instead of clutching on straws and seeking to beguile Nigerians with fake promises, blame game and false performance indices, President Buhari should come to terms with the fact that there is no way Nigerians can change their minds about voting in Atiku Abubakar as his inevitable replacement come February, 2019.

The PDP therefore commends Nigerians across board for their boldness in confronting President Buhari with his failures and their resolve not to be beguiled again in the 2019 elections.

Controversial OAP Ifedayo Olarinde, better known as  Daddy Freeze, is making some insinuations about Covenant University and the founder of the institution, Bishop David Oyedepo.

The OAP, who regularly criticizes the teachings of a number of pastors, shared a photo collage showing a number of powerful people posing with their hands steepled in the shape of a triangle.

Bishop Oyedepo, Donald Trump, Michelle Obama, Angela Merkel, Michelle Obama, Steve Harvey, were all in the photo collage with the same hand gesture.

Freeze made no direct accusations but made an insinuation, leaving it open for his followers to interpret as they wish.

A number of followers interpreted it to mean that he's accusing them of throwing up the Illuminati sign. But some pointed out to Freeze that the gesture could also be a pose to show confidence.

He went on the share another photo showing the aerial view of Bishop Oyedepo's school, Covenant University. The spot on which the institution stands was circled with a red marker to show the school designed in the form of the Star of David, a symbol of Judaism.

His caption for the photo was also laden with insinuations. 

He then shared a screenshot of a Wikipedia definition of Satanism, which happens to have the Star of David inside a circle as the symbol for Satanism. His caption for the post reads: " Wordless post."

In another post, he shared the same star and said the Bible never referred to it as the Star of David, instead it is referred to in the bible as the star belonging to satan.

Fayose reacts as EFCC reportedly seal off properties belonging to him

Former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has denied ownership of six properties EFCC operatives  sealed off today claiming that they belong to him.

There were reports earlier today that some properties linked to the governor in Abuja and Ekiti state, were sealed off with the sign ''EFCC, Keep off'' placed on them. The sealing of the properties may be connected to a court order which authorised the seizure of the properties suspected to have been built with corrupt proceeds. Recall that Fayose is standing trial for a N2.2 billion fraud perpetrated while in office.

Reacting to the news, Fayose in a statement released by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, denied ownership of the sealed properties. He said the agency went about sealing off properties belonging to innocent citizens.

“I have just been informed that operatives of the EFCC are going about sealing houses of innocent people in the state, under the guise that the houses are linked to me. This is another wild goose chase and the usual media campaign against my person.

It is only in our country that an anti corruption agency will first go about sealing houses before determining the ownership, which can be done so easily by visiting relevant agencies. I am therefore, informing the public ahead of their usual blackmail and media trial. Please note that none of the property in question is owned by me and the records are there for anyone that is interested to see.

The EFCC is advised to stop going about looking for ways to malign my person just because of their hatred as a result of my uncompromising stands on national issues. Even if the commission is being pressured from ‘above’ to persecute me at all cost, it should at least, do its job diligently to save itself from persistent embarrassment''.

A 30-year-old man, Obinna Okafor, who specializes in robbing users of Automatic Teller Machines, has been apprehended by men of the Anambra state police command.

Parading the suspect before newsmen yesterday November 22nd, the spokesperson of the state, Haruna Mohammed, said Okafor was arrested at the Nnewi branch of Access Bank by policemen on patrol.

“The suspect specialises in duping unsuspecting victims around Automated Teller Machine centres by swapping their ATM cards with other stolen cards in his possession. Operatives attached to the Nnewi Area Command, while on surveillance patrol around Access Bank, Nnewi, arrested one Obinna Okafor, 30 years, of Enugu-Ezike in Enugu State. He was arrested while withdrawing money using an ATM card stolen from a medical student in Nnewi.” he said

Eight different ATM cards and the sum of N120,000 withdrawn from his last victim’s account was found on him at the point of his arrest.

Haruna said Okafor would be charged to court after investigation have been concluded.

A driver has been taken into custody after he allegedly kidnapped his boss' children in Lagos and stabbed them to death when his demand for a 3 million Naira ransom was not met.

The suspect, who has been the family’s driver for years, went to pick his boss' three kids from school as usual last week but, rather than take them home, he drove them to a bush from where he called their mother, demanding a ransom of 3 million Naira. 

The mother told him she didn't have such amount and pleaded for the return of her kids. But the angry driver stabbed them all, killing the two boys and leaving the girl in critical condition.

The girl who is the elder of the three siblings is in the Intensive Care Unit of an undisclosed hospital.
